Department of Environmental Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark hereby invites applications for 1 (three year) PhD fellowship from candidates who hold a master´s degree in medicine or other field relevant to the project outlined below:
Environmental chemicals may impact human health, especially if the exposure occurs during early development. Experimental studies suggest that some chemicals may interfere with the development of endocrine, immune, or nervous system functions, but epidemiological evidence is limited. At the same time, current health data suggest that certain diseases, infertility, obesity and organ dysfunctions may be due to environmental factors, including industrial pollutants.
The Department of Environmental Medicine at SDU carries out and collaborates on prospective population studies to elucidate the role of environmental chemicals in the etiology of ill health in modern society. We are seeking candidates for participation in projects relating to the role of environmental chemicals in the development of immune system dysfunction, obesity, and reproductive dysfunction.
The projects are funded by the Danish Council for Strategic Research, the European Commission, and the National Institutes of Health.
