The International Summer Language School was held for several years under the auspices of the President of the Czech Commission for UNESCO, Doc. MUDr. Jaroslava Moserová, DrSc. The International Summer Language School is also holder of the European Language LABEL Award for Innovation in Language Teaching.

The ISLS is a three week language program offering 8 languages: Czech, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese. We also offer 2 special courses: TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and Legal English.

The ISLS offered also scholarships for students from Central (V4 countries) and Eastern European Countries who are interested in course of Czech language for foreigners.


The International Summer Language School first took place in 1990 with 130 students and lecturers. In eighteen years the number has increased to 877 participants (students and lecturers) from all parts of the Czech Republic and abroad. Last year 171 participants arrived from countries as: Australia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Italy, Latvia, Libya, Lithuania, Macedonia, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Republic of South Africa, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, the U.S.A., Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Every year a great number of foreigners living in the Czech Republic come and participate in the International Summer Language School to improve their level of the Czech language.

The International Summer Language School (ISLS) offers two types of scholarships:

* government scholarship,
* ISLS scholarship for students from Central and Eastern Europe.

Deadline: May 17, 2010
Open to: international students

Both scholarships are announced for international students who study Czech language at their home university (institution) and will study Czech language at ISLS too.
